The Data Engineer’s role is to design and maintain data modeling and analysis services used to mine enterprise systems and applications for knowledge and information that enhance business processes at Fastems. This individual is also responsible for building, deploying, and maintaining data support tools, metadata inventories, and definitions for database file and table creation, ensuring smooth and error-free data operations.

From an AI perspective, the Data Engineer plays an essential role in enabling artificial intelligence initiatives by architecting and optimizing data pipelines for machine learning and advanced analytics workloads.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

Develop and deploy required data queries/reports in response to business user needs.

Design, implement, and optimize data pipelines to support artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives

Collaborate with the team to prepare, cleanse, and transform datasets for AI model training and evaluation.

In conjunction with data owners/sponsors/key users and department managers, develop data models and protocols for mining production databases.

Assist in the development of data management policies and procedures.

Ensure robust data governance and compliance practices for sensitive and high-impact AI projects.

Work closely with the team to identify emerging data requirements and drive innovation in data architecture.

Operational Management

Work with Architects and data key users to coordinate the creation and management of data queries and reports.

Collaborate with unit managers, key users, architects, and other stakeholders to integrate the data platform with operational systems.

Provide and apply data quality best practices.

Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications of data flows.

Create new data models or enhance existing ones.

Determine required network components to ensure data access, as well as data consistency and integrity.

Maintain and enhance databases to facilitate efficient storage and retrieval of AI datasets.

Monitor performance and integrity of data infrastructure supporting AI applications.

Develop routines for end users to facilitate best-practice use of data management tools.

Collaborate with the Data architect and the security team to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.

Monitor data management system details within the data platform, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.

React to errors or failed processes in the data platform environment

Manage access management of the data platform solution

Analyze data in the data platform based on end-user needs/requests

Formal Education & Certification

Bachelor`s or Master´s degree in the field of computer science, information management or statistics, and/or relevant years of equivalent work experience.

5+ years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge & Experience

Strong understanding of data models, database structures.

Good knowledge of Power BI

Knowledge of TimeXtender tool is seen as a benefit

Excellent knowledge of data modeling tools and database management tools.

Strong familiarity with data preparation, transformation, processing, classification, and forecasting.

Working technical experience with relational database servers

Experience with data management techniques.

Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.

Project management experience.

Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.

Involvement in inter-departmental projects and experience communicating with various stakeholders

Knowledge of SQL Server Analysis Services is seen as a benefit

Programming experience (Python, C#, etc)

Knowledge of ETL tools.

Understanding of Microsoft Azure services.

Understanding of incremental development (DevOps)

Knowledge of AI is seen as a benefit
